Dinner with Baby Brynn

A few weeks ago we had Nea, Susan, Shiloh and Baby Brynn over for dinner.

Ayden simply adores Baby Brynn (and I think she is very fond of him as well)!

Ayden made sure Baby Brynn had everything she wanted
(even if than meant ripping it from Gavin's little hands)!!

While I am hopeful that Ayden's adorable treatment of Baby Brynn is telling of how he will be with our new addition....I'm slightly concerned with the solution of simply taking from Gavin to give to the baby.....hum. Good thing we have some time to work on that.

Turtle Time

Thankfully this is NOT a reference to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles  (yet...). As you can see from Ayden's shirt, we are still very much in the Superhero phase.

Lately, [and I can thank Ayden's school for this] Ayden has been asking about when he can get another pet. For those who don't know. Our little toy poodle was taken from the yard almost a year ago by a dessert animal -- probably a bobcat. Ayden speaks of her frequently.

While Erowyn's fate was very sad and sudden, there is no denying how liberating it has been to have no pets around this past year. No extra dirt, hair, noise, smell, messes, mouths to feed, things to worry about when traveling....it's amazing. And trust me...my boys provide plenty of all of the above and more to go around.....

Admittedly, I thought I had a few good years before Ayden became any the wiser about it and started the pleading for a pet. Well, it has begun.

Thankfully, in true three-year-old fashion, it has already lessened significantly, so I think I can still hold off for a while. But, what I have compromised to is that if/when we break down and allow the kids to have a pet, it will for sure be a dessert tortoise.

Below, Mimi had some at her office that they were caring for and the boys had a BLAST holding them and feeding them. From the little I know, when they grow too big for the cage we can simply let them live in our yard....that sounds fairly low maintenance.....and certainly very quiet :) (but I'm sure there is a catch).

Ayden is just such a big boy these days. Something about this picture catches me off guard with how much he has grown and the wisdom in his face.

Gavin....well this might just be another glimpse into his mischievous future :)

I'm Back...hopefully...

Ok, it official....(I'm hoping)....I'm entering the blog world again after a brief, but seemingly endless, hiatus.

I have so much to catch up on I'm overwhelmed. I've decided rather than try to shove all the crazy/amazing/sad life events that have occurred on my hiatus into one post....I will do my best to keep them short and sweet and keep them coming on an (almost) daily basis.

For today's mini post, I want to share my excitement of the day......family pictures!!!  (FINALLY!!!!!)

There is literally no documentation that I have a second child....much less an almost TWO YEAR OLD second child. Well, today we finally did something about it. Here is an adorable sneak peak from our awesome photographer (Ericka Reynolds!) of what is to come.

Oh how I've missed my blog and reading my friends' blogs.......so good to be back.

Thanks for waiting!!
